Warranty
AMC will warranty each solid wood door produced from the AMC facility for a period of one year from the date of shipment to the job site. Warranty is limited to good material and workmanship free from defects that would render a door unserviceable or unfit for the ordinary, recommended use. In the event of failure or defect, AMC will, at its discretion, repair the door without charge or provide a replacement door without charge in the same state as it was originally purchased from AMC.
Handling of Hardwood Doors
All new doors should be handled with care and protected from the weather. Prior to the doors being finished is the most critical time as they are most susceptible to absorbing moisture which can cause twisting and/or warping. Doors that are pre hung should never be stacked flat, they should be in a controlled environment where there are minimal swings in temperature and humidity, and every door should be finished within 48 hours from time of shipment to the job site. An unfinished door will start to absorb moisture immediately
Finishing
Doors must be finished on all surfaces, uniformly, with a minimum of three coats of finish suitable for wood. All 6 sides of a door (both faces, both edges, top and bottom) as well as any cutouts and bored holes for hardware should be finished. All wood doors expand and contract depending on temperature and humidity. Finishing the doors on every surface allows the door to acclimate to humidity swings as well as temperature expansion/contraction at a much slower rate. Allowing the door to change slowly will greatly reduce the total amount of movement the door will experience. When doors are installed, an acceptable amount of allowance should be made for the change in dimension that will undoubtedly occur.
Exclusions of Warranty
The following are not defects in workmanship or material and will not be covered under warranty.
*Improper installation *Natural variations in the color and texture of the door *Knot size, shape, placement or any other natural variation in the color or texture of the wood *Surface checking of oak (red or white) is considered a natural characteristic of the wood itself and is not covered under the warranty *Failure to properly seal and/or maintain the door *Damage caused by improper handling or on-site storage *Improper overhang for exterior doors (Being exposed to direct moisture such as snow and rain or direct sunshine for long periods of time will affect the integrity of the door.) *Panel misalignment or shrinkage is not a defect as all wood will expand and contract *Doors present on a job site before mudding, taping and painting; as this creates a massive influx in humidity *Modifications of any kind to the door. Modifications include and are not limited to excessive trimming (more than %” on any side of the door), distressing done by anyone other than
AMC, removal of any part of the door.
